Where The Body Lay

Where The Body Lay is a progressive metal project conceived by Bernardo Magnani, a sonic exploration that lives at the intersection of the morbid and the transcendent.

Drawing from Death Metal, stoner and Psychedelic Rock, and ambient atmospheric music, the project refuses easy categorization. Tunings shift. Voices move from clean, harmonized melodies to death growls and shrieks. The music breathes, erupts, and dissolves, sometimes within the same song.

Thematically, Where The Body Lay is a confrontation with the full spectrum of human experience: trauma and healing, chaos and stillness, altered states, and the raw beauty of self-exploration. The name itself is a collision between the morbid and the spiritual. Horror, true crime, and the darkness of human nature sit alongside mindfulness, mysticism, and the pursuit of deep inner healing.

Inspired by the boundary-pushing work of Death, Tool, Elder, Blood Incantation, At The Gates, Cattle Decapitation, Revocation, The Haunted, and others, Where The Body Lay pushes extreme metal toward the melodic, the harmonic, and the profoundly lyrical.

The project is also a deeply personal homage to the healing art of tattooer Valentin Hirsch, the legacy of Chuck Schuldiner, and the relentless creative forces of Ola Englund and Dave Davidson. Born from a love of the mystical, the unexplored, and the untouched.
